There was no offer to fish if we chose too, and very little room to do so with 6 passengers!
Amazing tour. Both, Captain Hale and his mate are real lobstermen in a real lobster boat. They are also great fun and you learn a lot about lobstering. Strong recommendation and very kid-friendly.
Very unorganized...our daughter and son-in-law booked the whole boat for just my husband and I for a 40th wedding anniversary gift 1 week prior to our visit to Maine. When we arrived early enough for our tour, Steve Hale had double-booked 2 other couples...blaming it on the busy week of the Maine Lobster Festival.
Authentically Maine experience. Captain Hale & crew made my daughter and I feel right at home for our trip around the bay pulling traps. The boat has two benches that we sat on while they made their morning rounds checking traps. Dress appropriately, be ready to catch some spray and to see things up close. If you're not up for that than find another activity. There is parking at the middle pier and it is clearly marked. Enjoy!
I have to argue with the negative review. We just went and ran traps with Captain Jack and his assistant and found the whole thing to be fun and interesting and found them to be incredibly nice and entertaining. This is a fun way to spend the morning
This was really fun for the four of us. But don't expect a polished touristy experience. These are 2 lobstermen who realized there was a business opportunity to take tourist along while they check their pots. I suggest you ask questions - the assistant was not always clear about what was going on. Still, it was totally worth it - the air was wonderful, the process was fascinating and we saw seals.
Unfortunately, what was to be the highlight of our trip, turned out to be a "sour remembrance " that we don't usually bring up in our conversations of what we enjoyed the most!
